PURPOSE: To ensure subcriticality, coolability and structural integrity and drastically reduce production manday. ;CONSTITUTION: Square cross sectional parts 1, 2 are constituted of thick metal plate material and the intervals between neighboring spent nuclear fuel assemblies are kept constantly. The square cross sectional parts 1, 2 are arranged in parallel horizontally and piled perpendicularly by turns in vertical direction to form rectangular spaces 8 for containing fuel between the square cross sectional parts 1, 2. Fuel container cells 4 having a function of absorbing neutrons generating in the spent fuel are formed in the similar shape to the outline of the spent fuel assembly and with a little larger dimension. The fuel container cells 4 are inserted in the rectangular fuel containing space 8. One of each rectangular parts 1, 2 is contacted to the two facing sides of the fuel container cells 4 and the other rectangular parts 2 are contacted to the remaining two facing sides of the fuel container cells 4 to form space 7 between each square cross sectional parts 1, 2 piled up multiply.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
