PURPOSE: To provide a method for measuring yield value of Bingham plastic or pseudo plastic fluid by which the yield value of a Bingham plastic or pseudo plastic fluid can be measured easily in a short time with high accuracy not only in a laboratory, but also at site. ;CONSTITUTION: A slump cone placed on a slump plate is filled up with a Bingham plastic or pseudo plastic fluid sample composed of fresh concrete, mortar, etc. After filling up the cone, the cone is pulled up and the parabola formed by the fluidized sample on the slump plate is measured. Then the yield value τy of the sample is found by substituting the measured value into an equation, h2/2=(τy/πg)(L-r) (where π and g respectively represent the density of the sample and gravitational acceleration), expressing the relation between the distance L from the center to the end of the sample and the height (h) of the sample at a distance (r) from the center and the yield value πy of the sample. The yield value τy can be found in a simpler way by measuring the distance L and height H0 of the sample at the center and substituting the measured values into an equation, τy=(πg/2L)h02.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
