PURPOSE: To remove the water reducing the degree of vacuum in a mass spectrometer and prevent the occurrence of noises by introducing a passage switching mechanism between a trap column and the mass spectrometer. ;CONSTITUTION: The sample guided from an injector (f) is fed by a liquid feed pump A via a pipe and flows through a valve 1 → a valve 2 → a three-way joint (e) → a trap column (d) and is trapped. After trapping is completed, the valves are switched, the water from a liquid feed pump B flows through the three-way joint (e) → a valve 3 → the trap column (d), and the nonvolatile salt in the trap column (d) is washed away. After washing is completed, an organic solvent from a liquid feed pump C passes through the valve 1 → valve 3 → trap column (d) to sweep away the water in the trap column (d), then the sample is eluted. Water and the sample + organic solvent flow from the trap column (d) to the valve 3 → valve 2 in this order. The position of the valve 2 is switched, water is poured into a drain, and the sample is guided into a mass spectrometer.
