PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester-based carpet capable of maximally exhibiting a characteristic touch feeling and appearance and few in free monofilaments over the wide range without blending fibers of a low melting point therewith. ;CONSTITUTION: This polyester spun yarn for carpet is characterized in that the spun yarn is composed of a polyester-based crimped short fiber having 160-250mm average cut length and the fuzz coefficient (K) defined by the following general formula is 20-80 (ends/cm): Fuzz coefficiemt (K)=[(De/de)/L]×2 (De represents total denier of spun yarn and is 900-4500 denier; (de) is the denier of single short fiber and is 4-20 denier; L represents average cut length of the short fiber and is 16-25cm).
