PURPOSE:To freely and rapidly move an optional cage by extending a horizontal passage for connecting a rising exclusive passage to a lowering exclusive passage over the rising exclusive passage or the lowering exclusive passage, and providing a plurality of hatches for waiting elevator cages on the extended parts. CONSTITUTION:A horizontal passage 45 connecting a rising exclusive passage 41 with a lowering exclusive passage 42 is extended sideways on the drawing over each exclusive passage 41, 42 to form extended parts 45a, 45b. A waiting hatch 46 is formed on each extended part 45a to make a waiting elevator cage D wait therein. On the extended part 45b, a waiting hatch 46 for repairing a broken cage is formed, and a hydraulic jack 62 is disposed therein. On the circumferential wall of the waiting hatch 46, a propulsive guiding primary coil 46a is disposed. According to this constitution, a cage under waiting can be optionally moved without mutual interference.
