PURPOSE:To make rhythm performance by providing means for setting the probability values to be played in the beat positions of unit rhythm patterns and means for generating random numbers and making performance in accordance with the determination of comparing means in the respective beat positions. CONSTITUTION:The unit rhythm pattern 21 has musical instrument names at the left ends of the respective lines. The respective lines indicate the beat positions and the performance appearance probability values of the musical instruments corresponding to the beat positions are inputted to respective slots (elements). The performance rhythm pattern 22 is expressed by the similar arrangement. The value in 0-15 per one measure. The playing rhythm patters 22 are arrayed in the similar array. The slots are made as 0 or 1 and the music is played when the slots are the 1. A comparing section 14 reads the unit rhythm patterns out of a memory section 12, compares the appearance probability values with the random numbers and sets the 1 in the corresponding slits of the performance rhythm pattern 2 when the values are larger than the random numbers. The performance rhythm pattern of the next measure is made when the formation of the performance rhythm pattern for one measure ends. A random number generator 13 usually generates the random number arrays different from the first measure and, therefore, the different performance rhythm pattern is obtd. Playing of a great variety of the rhythm patterns by returning the unit rhythm pattern to the original pattern is possible.
