DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONVERTING JAPANESE SYLLABARY TO CHINESE CHARACTER

PURPOSE: To improve the conversion efficiency of KANA(Japanese syllabary)- KANJI(Chinese character) conversion even when plural persons takes partial charge of one edited document or when edited documents are different in style. CONSTITUTION: When key input is performed with a KANA input key of a keyboard 1, a reading KANA buffer 3 stores reading KANA inputted through an input processing part 2. With a conversion key, a dictionary retrieval part 5 retrieves a dictionary file 4 on the basis of the character string of reading KANA stored in the KANA buffer 3 to read out conversion candidates in KANJI, etc., having the same reading with the character string of reading KANA and store them in a retrieval result buffer 6. Then a use frequency correction part 13 retrieves whether each conversion candidate stored in the retrieval result buffer 6 is present in a reference document stored in a reference document buffer 12 and corrects the use frequency of each conversion candidate read out of the dictionary file 4 according to the use frequency in the reference document.
