PURPOSE: To enable plural designers to simultaneously advance design by using plural CAD tools while unitarily managing design data in logic design for an electric circuit. ;CONSTITUTION: After recognizing a CAD tool and the cell name of design data inputted from an I/O device 1 by a user, a working area allocating means 2 retrieves a management data base 5, checks whether input data necessary for the execution of the CAD tool exists in a data managing area 6 or not based upon the sort of the CAD tool, and when the data exist, determines a working area 7 from the sort of the tool and the cell name and prepares a directory for the area 7. A check-out means 3 copies the input data necessary for the execution of the recognized CAD tool from the area 6 to the area 7, executes the started CAD tool, and after the execution of the tool, a check-in means 4 detects updated data in the area 7, copies the detected data from the area 7 to the area 6 and clears the used contents of the area 7.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
