PURPOSE:To perform automatic operation as a unified roll shop system from a rolling mill to a grinder for grinding a roll by unifying specific steps based on a rolling schedule to determine a consistent operation method. CONSTITUTION:First of all, the specification of necessary rolls. the number of the rolls, the time of preparation are determined based on a rolling schedule from a host computer. Then, rolls to be prepared are alloted to rolls held now by a roll shop. Continuously, when the sequence of grinding of new grinding rolls and used grinding rolls is decided of work rolls to be prepared according to a rolling schedule, first, a schedule is made to answer the purpose of the rolling schedule. Finally, the destination of each selected roll and the transporting route therefor are decided. When such scheduling is automated, an adequate entire automatic roll operation system is realized without relying on the experience and intuition of an operator.
