PURPOSE: To easily perform a control operation by means of an age limit, a time limit, a level limit or the like by installing a parental control function which can perfrom a parental control operation easily. ;CONSTITUTION: An SD disk 10 is set on a turntable 13a for a media drive unit 13, a reproducing operation is started, and menu data for selection of movie information is displayed on a display device 21 from the DD disk 10. In a menu display state, a movie to be enjoyed is selected and instructed by operating a key for a user interface part 17. Then, under the control of a CPU 11, it is judged whether the movie information which has been selected and instructed is the object of a parental control operation or not. Then, when the instructed movie information is not the object of the parental control operation, the instructed movie information is reproduced. In addition, when it is the object of the parental control operation, the reproduction of the selected movie information is started when a utilization password agrees with a parental control password.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
