PURPOSE:To provide a method for printing with a microorganism, capable of giving gradated patterns and brilliant colors and enabling to easily decolor colors substantially without limiting the kinds of used dyestuffs, damaging a base material and causing the bleeding of the color at a color boundary. CONSTITUTION:A method for printing (direct printing, white color-decoloring, decoloring or reverse printing) with microorganisms comprises coating a liquid or paste (may contain a dyestuff) containing at least the cells of a strain which belongs to the genus Xanthomonas, Xanthomonas NR 25-2 (FERM P-13119), in a desired shape on a dyed cloth dyed with an azo dyestuff (may contain a non-azo dyestuff), and allowing the cells to grow or act in a wet state for utilizing all or a part of the azo dyestuff, thus eliminating or reducing the color of the azo dtestuff. A non-dyed base material may be combined with a liquid containing the cells, the azo dyestuff, etc.
