PURPOSE: To obtain a new hypomycin, capable of lowering the level of choles terol in blood and suppressing arteriosclerosis and having regulating actions on the activities of acyl-coenzyme A-cholesterol acyltransferases (ACAT). ;CONSTITUTION: The hypomycin of the formula. This hypomycin is obtained by culturing Hypomyces sp. C409 (FERM P-14374) which is a microorganism belonging to the genus Hypomyces at 24-30C and about the neutral pH under preferably aerobic conditions, accumulating the hypomycin in the resultant cultured product, separating the cultured product into a culture filtrate and a microbial cell by centrifugation, etc., and respectively collecting the hypomycin. The obtained hypomycin has the following physico-chemical properties: molecular formula: C19H19N1O3; molecular weight: 309; specific rotatory power []20D= 84.60 (CHCl3, c=0.5); solubility; soluble in MeOH, Et0H, acetonitrile, EtOAc, CHCl3 and benzene and insoluble in water; neutral; white powder, etc.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
