PURPOSE: To automatically accurately detect the surface 'flaw of a plug for perforating a seamless steel pipe over the entire surface by image processing a slit light projected picture imaged by an imaging unit, and extracting it as a line drawing. ;CONSTITUTION: The band of a light is drawn along the curved surface at the irradiated position of a slit light 17 radiated to the surface of a plug. A reflecting mirror 4 and the camera 5 are moved to image the slit light at a plurality of positions in the axial direction of the plug. Then, the slit lights (slit light projected picture) imaged at the positions in the axial direction of the plug at each set pitch are image processed by an image processor 11 to a simple line drawing of only the centerlines of the slit light.
