PURPOSE: To enable efficient production of straight-chain α-olefin. ;CONSTITUTION: This novel zirconium compound is represented by the formula: Zr(R¹COCR²COR³)_nX_4-no [R¹, R² and R³ each are hydrogen atom, a (halogen- substituted) 1-20C hydrocarbon group, at least one of them is a halogenated hydrocarbon group; n is 2 or 3; X is a halogen atom, a 1-10C alkyl group]. Also, this invention relates to a component of ethylene oligomerization catalyst comprising this zirconium compound, an ethylene oligomerization catalyst comprising this catalyst component and an organoaluminum halide, and a production of ethylene oligomer using this catalyst.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
