PURPOSE: To separate hydrogen isotope and helium with a pseudo moving bed by appropriately conducting the pseudo movement operation of an absorbent by moving the extraction port for helium and hydrogen isotope to the downstream side by one tower. ;CONSTITUTION: The adsorption towers 2 to 4 packed with an adsorbent are connected by the pipeline 9 to 11 respectively having shutoff valves 5 to 7, and the rearmost tower 4 and the foremost tower 1 are connected by a pipeline 12 having a shutoff valve 8. The group of the towers 1 to 4 is divided into a first section for supplying a raw gas and extracting helium, a second section for desorbing and extracting hydrogen and hydrogen isotope and a third section for extracting a gas rich in helium by utilizing the fact that helium is more easily desorbed than hydrogen isotope and sending to gas to the first section. Further, the raw gas supply port and the extraction port of helium and hydrogen isotope are moved to the downstream side tower by one tower in accordance with the movement of the absorption band of hydrogen isotope and helium to appropriately conduct pseudo movement operation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
