PURPOSE:To surely detect run-down of a battery of the radio selective call receiver connecting to a personal computer or the like and to prevent disable reception due to run-down of a battery when the radio selective call receiver is removed from the personal computer. CONSTITUTION:When a battery voltage detector 13 of a receiver 1 detects a voltage drop of a primary battery 11, the detector 13 sends a signal to a control section 4. Upon the receipt of the signal representing the voltage drop, a warning of a voltage drop of the primary battery from a display device 8 is displayed on a personal computer control section 7 or a voice notice section 9 generates a warning tone. Moreover, a control section 4 controls a power supply control circuit 12 to connect a personal computer power supply 10 to the receiver 1. Thus, even when the receiver is connected to the personal computer, the run-down battery of the receiver is confirmed and the need of battery exchange is recognized. Even when only the receiver is removed from the personal computer and the receiver is in use, the use of the receiver without knowing the run-down battery is avoided and the opportunity of information reception is not lost.
