PURPOSE:To ensure the communication with simple procedure by detecting a current flowing to a feeder of a branch transmission by a galvanometer at a branch point and using its detection output so as to connect the feeder of the main transmission at its branch point. CONSTITUTION:A feeder 4c of a branch transmission line is connected to ground via a galvanometer 12 in a submarine branch device 11, and a switching relay 13 activated depending on the presence or absence of a current flowing to the galvanometer 12 is inserted between the main transmission line feeder and the submarine ground wire 5. A feeder 14 for relay control is connected to a feeder 4c in a terminal station C. Then a current flows to the feeder 4c of the branch transmission line at the feeding branch changeover and its current is detected by the galvanometer 12 at the branch point and the detection output of the galvanometer 12 is used to connect the feeder of the main transmission line at its branch point. Thus, even if any fault takes place, the communication disable section is kept only to a faulty section.
