PURPOSE: To obtain the subject substrate material useful for the research or application of cells, containing, as the chief ingredient, type I collagen treated with a material capable of altering the gel structure of this collagen. ;CONSTITUTION: Type I collagen treated with a material capable of altering the gel structure of this collagen (e.g. capable of altering the degree of crosslinking of said collagen) is gelled, serving as an adhesive substrate for cells.
