PURPOSE: To provide a Pyricularia oryzae control agent containing an isothiazole carboxylic acid derivative (a part of the compounds is new) as an active ingredient and exhibiting an excellent control effect against Pyricularia oryzae. ;CONSTITUTION: A Pyricularia oryzae control agent containing as an active ingredient a compound of formula I (R¹ is H, halogen, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy; R² is H. halogen, NO₂; Y is Y', OR³, NHR⁴_a; Y' is morpholino, pyperidinyl, NHR⁴_b; R³ is H, alkali metal, 1-4C alkyl, etc.; R⁴_a is H, 1-3C alkyl; R⁴_b is 4-18C alkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, etc.), e.g. 3-methyl-5-isothiazole carboxylic acid. The control agent exhibits substantially no direct anti-bacterial action or an extremely weak anti-bacterial action, but exhibits the above-mentioned effect as the result of imparting a Pyricularia oryzae-preventing action to rice.
