PURPOSE: To finish efficiently and at a low cost and without requiring a helping hand pair of mold shape surfaces to carry out the press formation of products whose plate thicknesses are equal. ;CONSTITUTION: A lower side set plate 21 fitted with a lower die 3 that is NC machined into a stripe engraving shape is provided at the bottom of the liquid tank 8 of an electric discharge machine 7, and an upper side set plate 22 fitted with an upper die 5 that is NC machined into a stripe engraving shape is fitted to a head 10 that can move up and down and can swing horizontally. Between the two set plates, a counter balance device 20 consisting of a fluid pressure cylinder 24, and a guide unit 23 and a ball bearing 26 are provided. When an electric discharge current is tun while both dies are being swung horizontally, the scrap height of the stripe engraving of both die shape surfaces is smoothened by electric discharge. As fellow dies are made to be electrodes, there is no need of manufacturing an electrode for machining, and as the upper die is supported by means of the counter balance device 20, a die of heavy weight can be also machined easily by means of an ordinary electric discharge machine.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
