PURPOSE: To emphasize the brightness of a display illuminated from the front side. ;CONSTITUTION: A display panel 12 in which a film 16 formed with projetting parts 30 on the front surface, a display 14 and a reflector 18 are laminated is illuminated from an oblique front direction. A lighting beam 26 is made incident from the 1st face 32 of the projected part 30 into the film 16, totally reflected by the 2nd face 34, penetrated through the display 14, reflected by the reflector 18, projected from the panel 12, and reached to a viewer's eye 25. The luminance of the panel 12 can be emphasized by bending the obliquely incident lighting beam 26.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
