PURPOSE: To prevent the formation of a harmful substance such as trihalomethane in alkali ion water by suppressing the generation of hypochlorous acid by adding a calcium salt such as calcium lactate and a water-soluble reducing agent such as sulfite or L-ascorbic acid to at least water on an anode side. ;CONSTITUTION: In an electrolyzed water making method wherein the water in an electrolytic cell is subjected to diaphragmm or non-diaphragm electrolysis to form acidic water on the side of an anode 2 and alkali ion water on the side of a cathode 3, a calcium salt such as calcium lactate and a water-soluble reducing agent such as sulfite or L-ascorbic acid are added to at least water on the side of the anode 2 to perform electrolysis. By this constitution, water containing an alkali ion richly is obtained. Residual chlorine such as hypochlorous acid formed on the side of the anode by oxidation reaction is removed by reduction.
