PURPOSE: To provide a rolled product free from a wedge or a bend by obtaining the roll gap values on the working side and the driving side, and operating the difference therebetween. ;CONSTITUTION: Distance sensors 15a (15b), 16a (16b) are mounted on the back side of a roll on the working side and the driving side of upper and lower work rolls 2a, 2b, and the distances to the respective rolls 2a, 2b are measured. The respective roll gap values on the working side and the driving side are obtained based on these measured values. In addition, the difference between these roll gap values is operated. The distance sensors may be mounted on the back side on the working side and the driving side of the upper and lower back-up rolls to measure the distance to the roll surface.
