METHOD FOR DETECTING VARIATION OF WEIGHT OF POROUS METAL BODY

PURPOSE: To make it possible to detect the variation of a porous metal body with high accuracy using a simple measuring system by inserting the porous metal body between the plate electrodes of a capacitor having the parallel plate electrodes, and measuring the capacitance of the capacitor. ;CONSTITUTION: A sheet-shaped porous metal body 2, which is the body to be measured, is inserted between the parallel plate electrodes of a capacitor 1 and moved in the direction of an arrow. The capacitance is increased in the linear function in correspondence with the quantity of the material, which is inserted between the parallel plate electrodes. When the capacitance is measured with an impedance measuring instrument, the dispersion of the weight of the sheet-shaped porous metal body 2, which is inserted between the electrodes, can be detected. That is to say, the weight (or density) of the porous metallic body 2 is computed with an operating device 4 based on the capacitance value sent from the measuring instrument 3. When the weight of the sheet-shaped body to be measured is continuously measured, a recorder is provided, and several pieces of the capacitors 1 are provided on the line.
