PURPOSE: To accurately measure the chromaticity and turbidity of a solvent containing a turbid matter (colloidal light-scattering and absorbing matter) and soluble light absorbing matter) without interference between them. ;CONSTITUTION: While a solvent to be measured is irradiated with light 2 from a light source 1, the intensity of transmitted light 5 is measured with a first photodetector 10a and the intensity of scattered light 7 is measured with a second photodetector 10b. The intensity data of the transmitted light and scattered light are sent to an arithmetic section 11 in which conversion tables for absorption coefficient and scattering coefficient precalculated based on transport equations are stored in advance. The section 11 converts the intensities of the transmitted light and scattered light into an absorption coefficient and scattering coefficient, respectively. After the absorption and scattering coefficients are multiplied by the density conversion factor to a reference material, the products are outputted to a display device 12 as the chromaticity and turbidity, respectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
