PURPOSE:To construct a safe and efficient railroad crossing by fitting a groove- form male fit member in a female fit member provided at an engaging metal fitting secured to the oversurface of a crosstie, and laying a steel step tread on the oversurface of a laid bearing board. CONSTITUTION:A hydraulic clamp tool A consists of clamping pieces 16a, 16b detained with crosstie, a connecting rod 18, and a hydraulic cylinder 20. Then a variable clamping space retaining fitting B is formed out of a screw pressing piece 22 of a movable pressing piece 21 and a pressure receiving metal fitting 23. The ends 5a, 5b of a laid bearing board 6 are clamped by the clamping tool A and retained with the retaining fitting B, and then the clamping tool A is deenergized to allow the rigid crosstie and the board 6 to face them each other in a position with capability of fitting. Then the space of the retaining fitting B is widened, and the male/female fit part is fitted together, and a steel step tread 8 is placed on the oversurface of the board 6. This permits simplifying and saving labor for the works of erecting a steel railroad crossing.
