PURPOSE:To increase the rate of removal of phenols and arom. amines from an aq. soln. by adding protein when phenols and/or arom. amines are allowed to react with hydrogen peroxide by the catalytic action of peroxidase to be removed from the aq. soln. CONSTITUTION:When phenols and/or arom. amines are allowed to react with hydrogen peroxide by the catalytic action of peroxidase to be removed from an aq. soln., protein such as alpha-amylase is added. The pref. amt. of the protein added is =10 times the amt. of the peroxidase used. The rate of removal of phenols and arom. amines from the aq. soln. is considerably increased.
