PURPOSE: To provide a method for water retention and a water retention structure which improve the water retention and air permeation in pots for growing plants. ;CONSTITUTION: A water-conveying bag 13 to be filled with soil is arranged so that it contacts to the inner wall surface of the pot 11 to keep excessive moisture coming from the soil 12. A water-permeating material 14 is placed so that it reaches the bottom of the water-conveying bag 13 to keep the excessive moisture guided from the water-conveying bag 13 in the material 14. An inside vessel 16 is arranged beneath the water-permeating materials 14 so that the a water retention materials 15 in the inside vessel 16 may come into contact with the water-permeating material 14 to store the excessive water introduced from the water-permeting material 14. Further, the excessive water overflowing out of the inside vessel 16 is drained through the draining hole 17 at the bottom of the pot 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
