PURPOSE: To provide a cold rolling method of a BA-finished stainless steel strip by which the consumption of a guard sheet is remarkably reduced. ;CONSTITUTION: After the stainless steel strip coil 23 is mounted on the front reel 13 of a 20-stage Sensdzimir mill 11, the coil is uncoiled, bitten between a pair of upper and lower small diameter work rolls 17 together with a rolling agent, cold-rolled and coiled with a rear reel 14. After completing the cold rolling of a 1st pass, draft adjustment is executed and the cold rolling of the 2nd pass is executed in the reverse direction to the 1st pass. This reverse cold rolling is repeatedly executed. Tension is set so that the absolute value of the difference between the uncoiling tension at the n-th pass of the stainless steel strip 25 and the coiling tension at the (n-1)th pass is ≤2.0kgf/mm2 at the midway passes in reverse cold rolling and cold rolling is executed without using the guard sheet.
