PURPOSE: To provide a compact breather device for a hydraulic oil tank, ensuring freedom from the blow of a mist of hydraulic oil from a breather. ;CONSTITUTION: The upper lid 5 of a hydraulic oil tank 1 has a rectangular opening 6 and a box type breather chamber 7 to cover the opening 6 is formed outside the upper lid 5. In addition, the opening 6 is covered with a wire gauze 8 and filter members 9 are laid thereon. Also, a plurality of breathers 10 are fitted to the side of the chamber 7. Furthermore, the tank 1 is internally provided with a wave dissipation plate 11 larger than the opening 6 at a position thereunder as well as a plurality of baffle plates 13. According to this construction, the waves of hydraulic oil 20 generated in the tank 1 are retained with the wave dissipation plates 11, and the hydraulic oil 20 does not reach the opening 6. Also, when the air in the tank 1 is discharged outside, the filter members 9 eliminate large oil drops contained in the exhaust air and the breathers 10 further eliminate a mist of oil drops.
