POTASSIUM TITANATE ALUMINATE WHISKER AND ITS PRODUCTION

摘要

PURPOSE: To obtain potassium titanate aluminate whiskers by forming whiskers having a compsn. represented by a specified formula, prescribed fiber diameter, fiber length and aspect ratio. ;CONSTITUTION: One or more kinds of Al compds. such as Al₂(SO₄)₃ and Al(OH)₃ are added to potassium titanate fibers dispersed in water and they are brought into a reaction at 5-80°C to prepare potassium titanate fibers surface-coated with the Al compds. A flux such as K₂SO₄ is added to the surface-coated fibers by 50-90wt.% of the total amt. and they are mixed, press-compacted, fired at 900-1,300°C and slowly cooled to form a fired compact. This compact is boiled in water, washed with water, separated by filtration and dried to obtain the objective potassium titanate aluminate whiskers having a compsn. represented by the formula K_xAl_xTi_8-xO₁₆ (0.8≤x≤2.5), 0.1-10μm fiber diameter, 5-300μm fiber length, an aspect ratio of 10-100 and 0-70vol.% pores in the fibers.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
