PURPOSE: To enable to strengthen a suture performed after removal of an affected tissue, by removably attaching a buttress member to a band piece of an animal tissue material, the buttress member including a band piece of an animal tissue material adaptable to a host tissue supported by the buttress member and forming a be like shape. ;CONSTITUTION: This U-shaped buttress member 10 to be used together with a surgical staple gun in order to effectively strengthen a suture following removal of an affected tissue is composed of a rectangular sheet of a flexible synthetic resin material. Between generally parallel side parts of the buttress member 10, a band piece 12 of a suitably tanned tissue is supported. For this band piece 12, a suitable cross-linked (tanned) animal pericardium or dura mater such as those of cattle, horse, pig, sheep, human being and others are preferable.
