PURPOSE: To provide an automatic renting system which can rent a portable telephone set by a system conforming to its use style. ;CONSTITUTION: The portable telephone set automatic renting system 1 has plural automatic renting machines 4 where plural portable portable telephone sets 6 are stored, ID cards 8 that users of the automatic renting machines carry with them, and a headquarter machine 2 which performs remote control over renting and returning operation at the automatic renting machines. The transmission of a portable telephone set which is rented is managed by the headquarter machine 2 and the rental charge is calculated on the basis of the transmission managing record of the headquarter machine.
