PURPOSE: To effectively control vibrations of even a steel structure such as a bridge, which is vibrating in the axial direction always with a small amplitude, and also provide controllability for large amplitude vibrations to be generated in the event of a typhoon, earthquake, etc. ;CONSTITUTION: An oil damper with a high damping cylinder is equipped with a piston rod 23 having a front piston 22 and a rear piston 22 inserted in a front chamber and rear chamber partitioned by a center bulkhead 21 and an orifice 30 bored in the center bulkhead 21, and the gap between the two pistons 22, 22 is filled with a working oil 24. The arrangement further includes a servo valve 25 installed protrusively at the periphery of a cylinder 20 and, increasing or decreasing the section area of the orifice 30 in proportion to the size of the fed signal, an integrating amplifier 28 to which the output of an acceleration sensor 29 is fed, an A-V converter 27 to convert the output of the amplifier 28 into voltage, and a servo amplifier 26 which amplifies the output voltage signal of the A-V converter 27 and feeds the result to the servo valve 25.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
