PURPOSE: To improve a correct answer rate in discriminating a water leakage sound. ;CONSTITUTION: A detecting sound S1 such as a water leakage sound is received by a sensor 1, and is amplified or attenuated up to a necessary level suitable for recording by a data recorder 2, and is recorded as a detecting sound S2, and is outputted to a frequency analyzing circuit 3. Spectrum analysis is performed with high accuracy by the frequency analyzing circuit 3, and a spectrum S3 is produced. The peak is sharply emphasized on a level unrelated to individual signal levels by a spectrum emphasizing processing circuit 4. Integral processing is performed on a spectrum S4 emphasized with every integral time of the prescribed time by an integral processing circuit 5. Characteristic parameters S6 are extracted from the spectrum S4 on which integral processing is performed by a characteristic quantity extracting circuit 6. The sum total of characteristic parameters is found from the characteristic parameters S6 by an addition processing discriminating circuit 7, and the sum total of the characteristic parameters, areas of respective preregistered factors and a reference line are checked up with each other, and a discriminated result S7 of the detecting sound is outputted to a display unit 8.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
