The invention concerns an agent providing humans, animals, plants and inanimate objects with protection against insects or parasites, the insects being affected to the extent that they die. The agent is easy and cheap to manufacture, is biodegradable and is simple and reliable in use. The agent consists of an aqueous lactic-acid-containing solution obtained from the acidification of milk or from acid milk fermentation and containing lactoses and glucoses as well as residual proteins.
