The box or lid, made from corrugated or equivalent relatively rigid material, has at least four rectangular side walls meeting at parallel fold lines, and an upper surface formed from an assembly of top flaps (10), connected to the side walls by fold lines (12) at right angles to those along which the side walls meet. It has two opposite zones (13) where portions of the top flaps can be pushed in, forming a strip (16) of cardboard which can be used as a handle. The strip is made from a lower section (17) formed from at least one of the top flaps, and an upper reinforcing layer (22) with its ends (23) attached to the end walls of the box of lid by adhesive.
