A method of producing a mineral fibre-insulating web comprises the steps of firstly producing a first non-woven mineral fibre-web being a loosely compacted mineral fibre web of a low area weight. The first material fibre web contains mineral fibres arranged generally in the longitudinal direction of the mineral fibre web. Secondly, the first material fibre web is moved in the longitudinal direction of the web and folded transversely relative to the longitudinal direction and parallel with a transversal direction of the first mineral fibre web, so as to produce a second mineral fibre-web containing mineral fibres arranged generally perpendicular to the longitudinal and transversal directions. Thereupon, the folded mineral fibre web is cured for bonding the mineral fibres together so as to produce the mineral fibre-insulating web comprising a central body containing mineral fibres arranged generally perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the mineral fibre web.
