摘要
Piston rings are thermally spray-lined with a Mo alloy comprising 30-60% Mo and the remainder bonding material, by; (i) anchoring piston rings on a basic structure so that their external contact faces form a cylindrical surface, and (ii) progressively and continuously spraying the rings, via a forced gaseous stream, with a mass of droplets which have been melted in an oxyacetylene torch, and originate from at least one Mo feeding wire and at least one other wire of a softer, metallurgically bonding material, i.e. steel. During spraying, the cylindrical surface is rotated about its longitudinal axis whilst also being moved along this axis, to ensure complete coverage of the piston ring with the alloy.
