Ceramics based on zirconia, zirconium silicate, zirconium aluminosilicate and their oxides mixed with other trioxides of any kinds, glasses, vitroceramics, ceramics, ceramic colours and paints containing 3-90% by weight, become more resistant to abrasion through the simultaneous presence of 5-80% by weight of molybdenum and/or tungsten oxides, preferably 5-15% by weight. The compounds are tougher and are in the form of oxides after firing, but may have other forms as precursors (powdered metals and alloys, carbides, nitrides, borides, silicides, halides, nitrates, sulphates, hydrates, ammonium salts, acid salts, double salts, organometallics, etc.) depending upon the techniques for the preparation and application of advanced and conventional ceramics.
