The method consists in making the signal from the microphone pass through an electronic memory in such a way that it is made to undergo a small delay, which is divided, by means of RAM memories, into a certain number of time segments, which can be combined with each other according to a predetermined number, which can be set manually, to provide at the output a cyclic sequence of very small time divisions of speech that are not in their natural order. The equipment essentially consists of a delay line consisting of an input unit 1, an analogue-digital (A-D) converter 2, dynamic RAM 3, a digital-analogue (D-A) converter 4 and an output unit 5, and has a switch unit 6 which sends a reset pulse whenever it is switched, this pulse initiating the selection of the various RAM units 3, and activating the logical unit 7, the addresses 10, the validation signals and the write-read signals being supplied to the various memories by a generator controlled by a quartz clock 9.
