Method of detecting and measurement of static and dynamic magnetic fields, even those with isotropic response to the various orientations of the external field
A method is described for detecting magnetic fields, lacking parts in movement, based on the use of a ferromagnetic material whose saturation properties are utilised. Said method is based on the use of a device consisting of ferromagnetic materials, fashioned in the shape of a closed ring, or toroid, and provided with primary and secondary windings wound on physically separate coils. When the assembly is placed in an external magnetic field, the flow lines inside the ferromagnetic toroid are bifurcated and portions of flow proportional to the external field cross the secondary windings. Said external field can be detected with alternating pulses applied to the primary windings. A combination of at least three such elements, mutually oriented at right angles in space, can furnish a response not depending on the direction of the external field, yet proportional to the modulus of said field. This characteristic of the method makes it ideal for designing a personal dosimeter for magnetic fields. IMAGE
