To reduce the waiting time in the display of teletext pages, each teletext page is allocated to a circle of subjects at a transmitter end and a page number is inserted into each teletext page, the page number being selected from one or more page number intervals permanently allocated to the circle of subjects. At the receiving end, after a teletext page has been selected, further teletext pages which belong to the same page number interval as the selected teletext page, are stored in a multi-page teletext memory by using a microcomputer.
