Control system for the resonant circuit of a discharge lamp power supply with optimized power use and switching losses. An electronic inverter feeding a resonant circuit operates via an optimum switching line when power only enters the resonant circuit, the switches of one branch of the inverter always switch on zero current and the switches of the other branch with current circulating through them (forced switching). The control signals are obtained very simply by re-supplying the resonant current delivered by the inverter. The control system ensures smooth switching at any point of operation and only uses the power the load requires at each instant. Its application in high frequency electronic reactances for high power discharge lamps is one of the main fields of use of the proposed invention.
