THE WORK PRODUCED BY THE GAS TURBINE EXPANDER (40), IS IMPROVED BY COOLING A NITROGEN PRODUCT (86), PRODUCED BY A CRYOGENIC AIR SEPARATION UNIT (80), UP TO A SUB-ENVIRONMENTAL TEMPERATURE AND COMBINING THIS PRODUCT 92) COOLING IN THE SUB-ENVIRONMENT WITH THE FEED AIR FLOW (10) BEFORE COMPRESSION (20). COOLING MAY OCCUR THROUGH EXPANSION (90) OF THE NITROGEN PRODUCT (86) AND / OR SATURATED WITH WATER (FIG: 2; 190). THE PRESENT INVENTION IS PARTICULARLY ADAPTED TO A PROCESS IN WHICH AT LEAST A PORTION OF THE OXYGEN PRODUCT (84) PRODUCED BY THE CRYOGENIC AIR SEPARATION UNIT (80) IS REACTIVE WITH A RAW CARBON FEEDING MATERIAL (72) GASIFICATION (70) TO PRODUCE FUEL GAS.
