DIOXIME KINETIC ENHANCER FOR SOLVENT EXTRACTION OF GALLIUM FROM BASIC AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS THEREOF

Disclosed is a process for recovering gallium values contained in abasic aqueous solution by liquid/liquid extraction thereof. The liquid/liquidextraction process comprises contacting the basic aqueous solution with awater-immiscible, organic phase comprising a substituted hydroxyquinolinedissolved in an organic solvent therefor whereby gallium is extracted intothe organic phase. Thereafter, the organic phase is separated from thebasic aqueous phase and the gallium recovered from the separated organicphase. The improvement in process of the present invention comprises theorganic phase further comprising dissolved therein an organic dioximecompound.
