23MINIMIZING SERVICE DISRUPTIONS IN HANDLINGCALL REQUEST MESSAGES WHERE NEW MESSAGE FORMATSARE NEEDED IN A TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORKA signaling control point (SCP) node operates under thecontrol of computer program instructions which interpretmessage instructions generated by a service administrator.The message instructions provide a hierarchical commandstructure which permits the SCP node to generate networkmessages having formats not previously defined as well aschanging user specified data. Such network messages aretransmitted by the SCP node to identified switches in atelecommunication network in order to determine how a callrequest, such as an incoming "800" call, will be handledand/or routed by the telecommunication network.
