ORTHOPEDIC INSTRUMENT WITH QUARTER-TURN DISCONNECT MECHANISM

An orthopedic instrument (10) having a quarter-turn disconnect apparatus (16). A female socket (18) is provided on a broach (14) or cutting instrument and a male plug (20) with a locking mechanism (16) is provided on a cutting apparatus. The male plug (20) is inserted into the socket (18) and pushed forward slightly against the resistance of a spring (60). The plug (20) or socket (18) are then turned one-quarter turn at which point the locking mechanims (16) falls into place.
