Process for preparing perfluorinated bromoalkanes or perfluorinated bromoalkanes containing ether groups

A process is given for preparing perfluorinated bromoalkanes of the general formula X-(CF2)p-Br (I), in which X is hydrogen or fluorine and p is an integer from 2 to 10, or ether group-containing perfluorinated bromoalkanes of the general formula IMAGE in which q is zero or an integer from 1 to 4, in which a perfluorinated alkanecarboxylic acid of the general formula X-(CF2)p-COOH (II), in which X is hydrogen or fluorine and p is an integer from 2 to 10, or an ether group-containing alkanecarboxylic acid of the general formula IMAGE in which q is zero or an integer from 1 to 4, is subjected to an electrolytic decarboxylation in an aqueous electrolyte in the presence of bromine and an aliphatic nitrile.
