1-Hydroxyindoles of the following formula are useful in controlling fungi:wherein:R¹ is hydrogen or an electron withdrawing group;R² is selected from the group consisting of alkenyl having 2-10 carbon atoms, N-substituted-a-iminobenzyl,an unsubstituted or substituted aromatic group and acyl of 2-16 carbon atoms,R³ is selected from the group consisting of halogen atoms, andn is 0 to 4.
